To the wonderful families of Children’s Medical Center,
It has been my privilege to work at CMC since I finished my training in 1990. I have never wanted to work anywhere else, which is a rarity in today’s world. Why would I ever leave such compassionate, skilled partners, such a kind and dedicated staff, and such a loyal, intelligent, loving group of families? The only other job that can compete has been the rearing of our four children with my husband Greg.
So, it is the lure of spending time with my retired husband and our grown children who are embarking on new phases of their lives that has led me to make the bittersweet decision to retire from pediatric practice in the late spring of 2023.
This is an emotional decision for me because I will miss you all so much! In pediatrics we are always meeting new babies, children and their families that we wish we could follow along for 22 years, even if that means working until 100! I have loved taking care of all of you, whether it has been for 30 years, with a second generation of babies (who look so familiar to me as I remember their parents at that age!), or for only a few months. Thank you for letting me into your lives and for bravely sharing your worries and challenges that we could approach together. You have allowed me to experience so much of life through your eyes. I hope I have conveyed my respect and honored your trust in me. You have taught me that “family” has many forms, allowing me to marvel at the depth of love people can feel for each other. You have given me indelible memories that will keep me young forever!
Fortunately, my partners are mostly younger than I am, with many years left at CMC. I am leaving you all in capable, compassionate and competent hands! I will still be here for another year, and I am hoping to see each of you at your usual visits to help with the transition to your new wonderful PCP.
Thank you for making my dream career come true! I wish you happiness and good health in the future.
