Dr. Debbie Chen-Becker, M.D.
Dr. Debbie Chen-Becker joined Children’s Medical Center in January 2016. Dr. Debbie grew up in Cleveland and Columbus, OH, and is an avid Buckeyes fan. She received her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where she was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a year abroad in Sydney, Australia. While in college, she was also fortunate enough to meet her future husband, a fellow Buckeye.
Dr. Debbie graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 2003, studying abroad for two months in England and Australia during medical school. She was ‘Top 10’ in her graduating medical school class, with leadership roles in her medical school’s American Medical Women’s Association and the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association.
After medical school, Dr. Debbie and her husband moved to Denver where she completed her pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital. During her residency, Dr. Debbie also completed a medical Spanish course in Costa Rica. Despite busy hours in residency, Dr. Debbie and her husband were able to make it up to the mountains enough that they decided they never wanted to leave Denver.
Since completing her residency, Dr. Debbie has worked as a pediatrician at Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics and Advanced Pediatric Associates. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado, and speaks Mandarin and Spanish.
Dr. Debbie’s clinical interests include asthma management, children with special needs, helping manage infants born prematurely, and breastfeeding/lactation. Her personal interests include hiking, camping, skiing, playing the piano, dancing, and traveling. She is married with two sons and a daughter, who keep her on her toes daily. Dr. Debbie is honored to have joined such a wonderful team at Children’s Medical Center.
