Since the government has stopped paying for COVID19 vaccines, the cost of the vaccine now falls on our clinic and if we order more vaccines than we administer to patients then we are wasting resources. The vaccines also have a short window until they expire. We have already administered a significant number of the new COVID19 vaccines through our flu clinics and well visits so far this fall. We want to make sure we can vaccinate any remaining patients who desire the vaccine while also minimizing waste. To accommodate all patients who still want to receive the updated COVID19 vaccine, we will hold additional vaccine clinics on 11/7, 11/8, 11/14, and 11/21 where patients can receive the COVID19 vaccine and flu shots if still needed. You must sign up through Mychart for these clinics by 11/15/23.
We will continue to carry the vaccine in the office and will administer it at regularly scheduled visits until we no longer have stock from scheduled appointments but we cannot guarantee that it will be in stock on a particular day given the varying supply and demand, so we encourage scheduling an appointment in the vaccine clinic as soon as possible.
The CDC has also finally given permission to administer Pfizer to children under 5 who have had Moderna as a primary series. If your child has had Moderna and would like to get the new Pfizer vaccine this season, you can also schedule in these clinics. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/clinical-considerations/interim-considerations-us.html#Interchangeability

Please note this does NOT apply to patients who are younger than 5 years old. CMC will continue to order and offer these vaccines during respiratory season so that patients who become eligible to receive the vaccine at 6 months can continue to do so as long as supply continues to be available.
