Covid Updates and Clinic Dates through 1/15/2022

The CDC approved Pfizer booster shots for ages 16 and up today. The booster is to be administered 6 months from the second vaccine. CMC is currently scheduling vaccine clinics for Flu Shots, Flu Boosters, Pfizer Covid Shots(2 doses series) ages 5 and up and Pfizer Booster shots ages 16 and up. CMC is only administering vaccines to our current patients. WE ARE ADMINISTERING ALL FLU AND COVID VACCINES DURING REGULARLY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS, THERE IS NO NEED TO SCHEDULE A CLINIC VISIT IF IT ALIGNS WITH YOUR ALREADY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. Please use the link below to schedule your vaccines via your MyChart Account:

A note from our providers about vaccine recommendations:

All of the doctors in our practice support and encourage all patients aged 5 and up to get their COVID vaccine following approval by the FDA and CDC as well as booster shots for ages 16 and up. The vaccine has proved to be safe and effective at preventing severe disease from the virus. We encourage you to get the vaccine now once you are able to schedule it, there is no reason to wait to obtain anymore data. Unless you have had an allergic reaction to the components of the vaccine, there are no contraindications to anyone getting the vaccine. Those with allergies to foods or seasonal allergies can safely get the vaccine, but those who have an allergy requiring a prescription for an epipen will need to wait 30 minutes after the vaccine rather than the 15 minutes for those without allergies. Those with underlying health conditions are at more risk of having severe COVID so are likely to benefit greatly from the vaccine.

The vaccine dose is based on the responsiveness of children’s immune system which is dictated by their age, so there is no reason to worry about a child’s weight in comparison to others, they should receive the correct dose for their age. We legally cannot give the dose before a child has turned 5 years old and there will be no exceptions to this. If your child is going to be 12 soon, we do not recommend delaying to receive the 12 year old dose – there is more benefit to being vaccinated now than to receiving the higher dose.

You cannot come into clinic to get the vaccine if you are under isolation or quarantine for having COVID19 or being exposed to COVID19. Once you are out of isolation or quarantine you may schedule to get the vaccine. There is no waiting time between having COVID19 and getting the vaccine, besides being out of isolation and being fever free with symptoms improving. Even if you have had COVID19 in the past, you should still get the vaccine because studies have shown robust immunity from the vaccine whereas we don’t know the extent of immunity from natural infection.

Sincerely,
Drs. Debbie, Erin, Jay, Katie, Lauren, Liz, Mary, Spero
