We are so pleased to announce our own Dr. Jay Markson was honored as the recipient for this years James E. Strain award by Children’s Hospital Colorado on April 6, 2017.
There are two prestigious awards named for James E. Strain, MD: the James E. Strain Award at Children’s Hospital Colorado, which honors a practitioner who exemplifies the ideals of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP); and the James E. Strain Community Service Award at the Colorado Chapter of the AAP.
Dr. Strain’s influence on the children of this state, region and nation has been far-reaching. He was touted by the former chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, C. Henry Kempe, MD, as one of the top pediatric clinicians in the state of Colorado. The late Dr. Henry Silver also commented that “Dr. Strain is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding pediatricians in the United States.” Dr. Strain has also recently been promoted to Distinguished Clinical Professor, the highest level of a clinical faculty rank, which is awarded to an outstanding clinician, advocate, and teacher.
