Phone Changes at CMC starting 5/5/26

Dear CMC Families,

We wanted to reach out to share a few upcoming updates at Children’s Medical Center. Most importantly, our commitment to caring for your children and supporting your family remains unchanged. Providing compassionate, comprehensive care has always been at the heart of what we do, and that continues to be our highest priority.

As healthcare and technology continue to evolve, we are making a few changes designed to improve your experience and help us care for your family as efficiently as possible.

Beginning May 5, our nurse triage line will transition to a voicemail-based system. We know that holding on the phone can be frustrating, especially for busy families, so this change is intended to make it easier for you to connect with us. If you need to schedule an appointment, we encourage you to use MyChart for self-scheduling whenever possible. If you have a clinical question, concerns about your child’s symptoms, or need help finding the right appointment, please leave a voicemail and one of our triage nurses will return your call as soon as possible. Our goal is to return all triage calls the same day; however, messages received after 4:50 PM may be returned the next business day.

We are also updating our process for phone conversations that require physician review and medical decision-making. In some situations—such as discussing lab or imaging results, specialist recommendations, hospital follow-up, medication changes, or urgent after-hours medical guidance—these services may be billed to your insurance, similar to an office visit or other medical care. Because coverage varies by insurance plan, any associated cost may differ from family to family. We want to be transparent about this process while continuing to provide the thoughtful medical guidance your child deserves.

We are truly grateful for the trust you place in us and are honored to care for your family. Thank you for your continued support as we make these updates to better serve you while preserving the trusted, personal pediatric care you have always known from CMC.

Warmly,

Dr. Spero, Dr. Erin, Dr. Debbie, Dr. Liz, Dr. Katie, Dr. Lauren, Dr. Lisa, and Dr. Abby
